What Is the Safe and Sound Protocol?

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a listening therapy that uses specially filtered music to support nervous system regulation. It is designed to shift the nervous system from defense to regulation, allowing you to feel safe and connect better with others. For many adults, particularly neurodivergent adults, SSP is most effective when completed with structure, pacing, and relational support.

What Is the Rest and Restore Protocol?

The Rest and Restore (RRP) is a listening therapy that enhances autonomic regulation, improves gut function, helps you feel more relaxed, calm, and at ease. It improves sleep, reduces anxiety and depression, allowing greater access to your feelings. It guides the nervous system toward restoring internal physiological rhythms, supporting the shift from stress and fatigue toward balance, and restoration.

Adult Supported Listening

ND Friendly Life offers structured, relationally supported Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) And Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) services for adults. All SSP and RRP sessions are provided by Miranda and begin with a free consultation for an orientation to the SSP to ensure safety, readiness, and appropriate pacing.

Our approach emphasizes nervous system safety, autonomy, and support. SSP is not offered as a self-directed or app-only experience.

What to Expect:

A person sitting on a bench looking at a sunset

Improved response to stress

When our nervous system is regulated, it’s easier to sleep, eat, digest, concentrate, communicate, and participate in meaningful relationships with others. We can better respond to difficult situations and move past them instead of reacting and getting “stuck” in them.

A blue waterfall on cliff and rocks

Better emotional regulation

Become attuned to and more in control of emotions, so you can move through temporary setbacks with more flexibility and ease.

Four people holding each other while they look out over a canyon at sunset

More social connection and deeper relationships

By activating the part of your brain that allows us to be more social, affectionate and connected, the SSP can help shift you into a state where you are more comfortable and at ease engaging with others, leading to deeper and more meaningful relationships.
